Jobs and Baseball

Yesterday I dropped off 20 resumes at various firms, then when I got back home I found an e-mail from a firm I interviewed with about 2 months ago. They want to see me for a second interview this Monday, which is good news. Also, I talked with another attorney my Dad met today, that seems anxious to help me find work at her firm. All good news.
Last night I went out with Dave, Shawn and Yadira to the Angel's game. We left during the 8th, the Angels were down 6-0, but after we left, they made a comeback and only lost 6-2. I haven't had much luck going to Angel's games lately. I have more luck when I'm watching the Ducks play. I guess I'll stick to hockey.

LAZY DAY II

Yesterday was a great day. Sherri was off and we just stayed in pajamas and watched movies all day with the fire going in the fireplace. We saw all three original Indiana Jones movies - wow, I forgot how much the second one stank! One and three were good though; now we're ready for The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Also, we finally watched "Gone Baby Gone". That was a great movie. I really enjoyed it.

Ended on a good note

Today was a long day in which I was frustrated for quite a bit of it. Sherri and I are starting the second round of IVF, and in order to do that we had to order medications. Those meds were to arrive by FedEx today. I was going to leave at 9:26am this morning to do some errands. The reason I know this time, is because when I walked out my front door there was a door hanger note on it that FedEx was there at 9:20am and did not deliver the package because no one was home to sign it. I know for a fact that no tv, radio or anything else was going on that would have prevented me from hearing even a knock on the door, let alone the doorbell, which I promptly tested. FedEx came to my door and left that note without doing any check to see if someone was home.
It's very frustrating and became more so; (I'll leave out the even longer story) eventually Sherri and I had to go down to the FedEx center and pick up the package. My day was derailed, but got back on track later. We went out to dinner at Red Robin with my parent-in-laws and my sister-in-law and nephew. Dinner was good, and I got this nifty photo from the occasion.

When I got home I got my Wii Fit ready for use. I "played" this game for about 1 1/2 hours tonight. Let me tell you, it is definitely a work out program. It kicked my @$$. It is also very fun and I can see myself doing this quite a bit. My balance is currently terrible, but I'm sure I'll improve with more of this program.

Here's me attempting yoga - this is The Tree

The skiing is very fun as are all the mini games that came with it. I guess here I should have had another controller in my hand, because it would look more like I was holding ski poles.

Disneyland

We went to Disneyland yesterday to celebrate Angel's daughter Keli's birthday. It was a fun day, but the heat of the sun wiped me out. Oh, and I forgot to post a picture of my Mr. Potato Head: Taters of the Lost Ark! Angel and Greg got him for me. My favorite part is the sneer of the mouth.
Anyway, we had fun at Disneyland. We went to breakfast at the CA Grand Hotel because they had breakfast with Chip and Dale, Keli's favorite.
Here's a picture of Angel's daughter Jessi dressed as Chip. Here's Dale with Dale (Keli).
Keli liked the quilt Sherri made her. You can see she's staring at the Chip and Dale figures in the middle.
Here's a group shot at California Adventure. It was a really nice day, just a bit too hot.

Quilt's finished

Angel and family came into town today. We went to Company D and then to Sherri's folks house for dinner. Company D is the employee only Disney store. Today and tomorrow are a whole Disney theme; we're all going to Disneyland tomorrow to celebrate Angel's daughter Keli's birthday. I'm not really looking forward to the hot weather, but I'm planning on buying one of those fans with a water bottle so I can keep cool.
Sherri made this quilt for Keli because she's obsessed with Chip and Dale.

Alex's Daughter(')s(') Birthday Party

Alex's girls' birthdays are around the same time and they usually have one party for both. This year they are having two, but I won't make the one for today, so I'm calling yesterday's party a party for both Libby and Kayla. (It was technically Libby's.)
Anyway, the party was great. The pool was recently replastered and tiled so it looked great, and Alex ordered an amazing bounce house. You put a hose in it and it has sprinklers to get the inside all misty wet like a Magic Mountain line. Also it had a very fun water slide in it. I am pretty stiff/sore today because of the fun on that slide yesterday.

Sherri had to work, but I made sure she came over for after party bounce house fun. Here's a couple videos from the bounce house. I was fairly tired at this point so I wasn't willfully throwing myself around like at the beginning of the day.

Again, I didn't get to far jumping into the bounce house at this point. Earlier, when I wasn't as tired, I could sail all the way to the other end by jumping into the bounce house.

Scott, Esq.

At six o'clock this evening I went online and saw this message, stating I passed the CA Bar exam!!! One hurdle down, now I just have to get the job that goes with it. Sherri gave me a canvas plaque right after I found out. I like the "Esq." We then went to my folks' house for dinner with the family to celebrate, and for my Dad to administer the attorney's oath. I have to wait until Monday to sign the papers to make it actually official, but I think I'm going to start using the "esq" immediately.

More of Sherri sewing

Sherri started this quilt yesterday and was getting frustrated because (1) the sewing machine was acting up and (2) it was taking her quite a long time to cut out the triangles from the fabric. The first problem solved itself somehow and the second problem she solved by asking me to cut up the fabric for her. So while she was at work today I went about thinking about cutting fabric. I figured I needed something to make it easier than the scissors and measuring board that she had, so I went to my folks' house and cut out a wooden block 6" x 6". This probably would have worked fine, except I still had to use the scissors to cut everything, which was going to be a pain - plus I cannot draw or cut in a straight line. So, I didn't tell Sherri, but I went back to JoAnn's and asked them for help. They sold me a 6"x6" plastic thing which went well with the rotary cutter they sold me.
Sherri is none the wiser, I didn't do it the hard way with the scissors, and she will never know because...she...doesn't...read...this...blog...oh wait...d'oh. I guess she knows as soon as she reads this.
Anyway, she's happy because all the triangles are cut and she can put them together quickly now.
Here's the stuff I bought to make the cutting easier.

Lazy day

Mainly we had a relaxing day at home today. We had to run some small errands. Took Sherri's car in, went to Blockbuster to rent "Gone Baby Gone" (haven't seen it yet - not sure when we'll get to it), then went to JoAnn's to pic up some fabric for Sherri to sew together.

Mother's Day

We went to my brother's house last night for Mother's Day. The hamburgers were huge and I could barely get my mouth around them. They were also very good and looked like hamburgers you'd see on a commercial. As mentioned before, Sherri made cakes for the occasion. The lemon cake was amazing! And the chocolate cake tastes just like Claim Jumper's Mother Lode.
I liked this note from my dad to my mom - "Mrs. Jackman I hereby express my sincere + profound admiration of you on this Mother's Day 2008 in my capacity as the presumptive father of your children. Respectfully Yours"

Long Day

This morning I went to Irvine Park with my in-laws, sister-in-law, nephew and a family friend with her two boys. We spent a couple hours there, walking around and then ate lunch. Then I went to my parents' house and helped my Dad clean his workshop. We got some stuff done, but much more needs to be done so that I can start building my next project with him.
This evening, Sherri finished up the cakes for Mother's Day, and I got to sample the chocolate frosting.
Yummy.

Friday Night Dinner at Home

Sherri's family came over for dinner tonight. Sherri made her excellent honey chicken and then we watched "Who killed the Electric Car" which I've been wanting to see for a while now. It was interesting, and it showed the car I want for about 2 seconds, the Tesla.
Also, Sherri is baking a cake for Mother's Day on Sunday, and since she forgot one ingredient in one of the layers, we got to eat that layer tonight. It was great. Even with the ingredient missing it was great. Sherri says buttermilk will help make it smoother and other things for stacking and frosting, but it tastes good without it.
Anyway, here's some picts of the night:

Dave and Amy at Coffee Bean

We left home last night meeting friends enthused
To Victoria Gardens and Cheesecake Factory we did choose
Hunger was upon me so food I did not refuse
Though abated I was, for dessert I could not recuse
Cheesecake to go, over to Coffee Bean we did cruise
Dave and I, Amy and Sherri we broke into twos
To different interests boys and girls did peruse
At Coffee Bean we met anew for cheesecake and drinks for chews
I ate too much dinner with chai with cheesecake - I did misuse
Although it was fun, no more food for me, my stomach I did abuse
So ends my story, but you can go here for more news.

Fun Night

We had a fun night tonight. We went out bowling with Robin (Sherri's sister) and Logan (Robin's son). We bowled two games in which I did pretty bad the first game (>110), but got my rhythm the second (>160). Afterwards Sherri and I went to my brother's house for a bit and then stopped for Pinkberrys on the way home. It was the first time we've been to Pinkberrys, and both of us will not go there again. It was pretty awful. They have three flavors: original, coffee and green tea. We shared an original, but I wanted to try the coffee, so I got a sample. THE COFFEE TASTED LIKE HOTDOGS!!! Honestly. Pinkberrys coffee frozen yogurt tastes like hotdog!?! It was very disgusting. Other than that, the yogurt tastes like plain yogurt you would get at the grocery store. I don't like plain yogurt, and even mixed in with the admittedly amazing blueberries they had, it was not my type of dessert. Anyway, I'm going to go have an Otterpop now - much better tasting, and less calories.

Bye Bye Piano

Yesterday we donated our piano to the temple I went to as a kid. They were very happy to get it. Now they have an organ, electric piano, guitar and piano in the sanctuary. I'm sure it will go to better use there than being a place to put picture frames.
Eventually, when we have kids old enough I want to get another piano - probably a Yamaha Clavinova.
Here is the temple's new piano at its prominent position.
